What is OTF?
OTF (OpenType Font) is a scalable font format Microsoft and Adobe developed in the mid-1990s as a successor to TrueType. OpenType can hold either TrueType (quadratic) or PostScript/CFF (cubic) glyph outlines and adds advanced typographic features such as ligatures, stylistic alternates and broad multilingual support. It is the modern standard for desktop fonts.
OTF files are stored uncompressed. Nothing is lost to encoding, though they can take more disk space than compressed formats.
OTF was developed by Microsoft and Adobe and is an open standard.
