What is FBX?
FBX (Filmbox) is a proprietary 3D interchange format originally developed by Kaydara and owned by Autodesk since 2006. It stores geometry, materials, textures, rigging, animation and full scene data, and is a de facto standard for moving assets between tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender and Unity. Because the format is closed and controlled by Autodesk, macOS has no built-in support for it.
FBX was developed by Autodesk.
