Convert SubRip Files on Mac
SubRip (SubRip Subtitle) is a subtitle format using the .srt extension. Consul converts SubRip files to 5 other formats, and 18 formats to SubRip. Rename a file's extension in Finder and Consul handles the conversion automatically.
What is SubRip?
SRT (SubRip) is the most widely used subtitle format. Each entry is plain text with a sequence number, a start and end timecode, and one or more lines of dialogue. It originated with the SubRip DVD-ripping tool and carries no styling. That simplicity and universal support make it the default choice for movie and TV subtitles.
SubRip files are stored uncompressed. Nothing is lost to encoding, though they can take more disk space than compressed formats.
Opening SubRip files on a Mac
SRT files are plain UTF-8 text, but macOS assigns no default app to the .srt extension and Quick Look won't preview it as text; you can still open one in TextEdit or any text editor.
