Convert ARW Files on Mac

What is ARW?
ARW is Sony's raw image format, used by the Alpha mirrorless and earlier Cybershot lines. Like other raw formats it stores unprocessed sensor data; newer bodies can write uncompressed, losslessly compressed, or lossy compressed ARW files.
ARW supports both lossy and lossless compression, so file size and fidelity depend on how each file was encoded. Files can carry EXIF/MakerNote metadata.

Opening ARW files on a Mac
Quick Look previews ARW files. Select one in Finder and press Space. Preview opens ARW files. For a one-off conversion, Preview can also export ARW to JPEG, PNG, TIFF and PDF.
macOS decodes raw photos through its camera-specific raw engine, so images from very new camera models may not display until Apple ships support in a macOS update.
