What is AZW3?
AZW3, also called Kindle Format 8 (KF8), is Amazon's e-book format introduced with the Kindle Fire in 2011 as its answer to EPUB 3. Built on HTML5 and CSS3, it supports richer layout and typography than the older MOBI/AZW formats and, like them, can carry Amazon's DRM. Its extension is .azw3, with the newer KFX format sometimes sharing the same workflow.
