Convert EML Files on Mac
EML (Email Message) is an email format using the .eml extension. Consul converts EML files to 32 other formats, and 2 formats to EML. Rename a file's extension in Finder and Consul handles the conversion automatically.
What is EML?
EML is a single email message saved as a file, following the RFC 5322 / MIME internet message standard. It contains the message headers, body and any attachments as plain text, and is the common export format for saving individual messages from most email clients.
EML files are stored uncompressed. Nothing is lost to encoding, though they can take more disk space than compressed formats. Files can carry the email headers (From, To, Subject, Date).
EML is an open standard.
Opening EML files on a Mac
Opens in Apple Mail by default, which supports the format natively. On recent macOS versions Quick Look no longer previews the message body of .eml files, showing them as generic documents instead.
Consul supports 34 conversions for EML
Consul is the easiest way to convert EML files on your Mac, or to turn other files into EML. Rename file.eml to change its extension, and Consul converts it automatically.
