Convert EMLX Files on Mac
EMLX (Apple Mail Message) is an email format using the .emlx extension. Consul converts EMLX files to 32 other formats, and 2 formats to EMLX. Rename a file's extension in Finder and Consul handles the conversion automatically.
What is EMLX?
EMLX is the on-disk format Apple Mail uses to store each message as its own file inside ~/Library/Mail. It wraps a standard RFC 5322 message with a byte-count header at the top and an XML property-list footer holding Apple Mail metadata such as read and replied flags.
EMLX files are stored uncompressed. Nothing is lost to encoding, though they can take more disk space than compressed formats. Files can carry the email headers plus an Apple Mail property-list footer.
EMLX was developed by Apple.
Opening EMLX files on a Mac
EMLX is Apple Mail's internal per-message storage format found under ~/Library/Mail; macOS provides no straightforward way to open an individual .emlx file directly from Finder.
Consul supports 34 conversions for EMLX
Consul is the easiest way to convert EMLX files on your Mac, or to turn other files into EMLX. Rename file.emlx to change its extension, and Consul converts it automatically.
